WRIGHT-WAY
RESCUE
Youth Volunteer Opportunities

Wish List Fulfillment - locate donors for items from our wish list to bring to our shelter. This is a great way for children to directly help our pets by finding them toys, blankets, litter, etc. and it gives them a wonderful feeling of generosity and pride!

Party For The Pets- host a birthday, holiday, or other party and ask that guests bring donated items or money for the dogs and cats instead of a present. Schedule a time to bring these gifts in and receive a tour and see first hand all the animals you are helping!

Shelter Spokesperson - pass out general information flyers or special notices regarding upcoming shelter events like Santa Pictures, Gift Wrapping, Garage Sales, etc. They can also print pictures of our animals and pass them out to classmates and friends to show off our wonderful pets.

Classroom Organizers - talk to classes at their school about the shelter and encourage them to "adopt" Wright-Way Rescue as a community project. They can hold a coloring contest (winners posted on our website) and raise donations or gather items from our wish list. Some schools have organized change donation drives to benefit WWR pets. Schools can schedule a visit to either of our locations for a fun filled moment of puppy love and education from our shelter spokesdogs!

Groundskeepers - organize a shelter beautification project. Your child's classroom, troop or other groups can schedule time to come out and plant flowers, bushes or even pull weeds to help keep our shelter a beautiful and happy place for our pets. At our Murphysboro IL location we welcome birdfeeder projects and wildlife areas too!

Treat Bakers - bake organic treats for our pets! There are many dog biscuit and treat recipes that can be baked at home or as a group to donate to our pets.

Sponsor A Pet In Need - Special needs dogs and cats need your help. Visit our Sponsor A Pet page to see a current list of animals in need who need your help. Be creative! School groups, girl scouts, etc have created fundraising projects ranging from car washes to penny drives to help the pet of their choice.

Created for children and teens, this program allows your child to develop a sense of community and responsibility while helping our shelter pets. Although direct contact with our animals is restricted for this age group, there are many other valuable and fun opportunities for your child to help our pets. For more information please call us at (773) 353-9931.

Shelter tours available by appointment for groups. Please schedule at least one month in advance. Groups are encouraged to bring donated items for the shelter animals. 1 adult per 4 children required.
